Vintage Candy Dish, Diamond Point, Clear Crystal, Indiana Glass, Pointe de Diamant, French Inspired, Round Bowl, Home Decor, Glassware Art

$196.40 $245.50

The exquisite Indiana Glass Pointe de Diamant crystal-glass candy box is in excellent condition. The included original box is in good condition. While much of the incredible beauty of this stunning candy box derives from its 18th century Antoinette Poisson-inspired Pointe de Diamant pattern, the balance and symmetry found within each section enhances the overall appearance to such an extent that a jewel-like shimmer might reflect from the gorgeous pattern given the right lighting. The round footed base flows upward into a paneled-like stem where it meets a Diamond Point-pattern collar just under the larger bowl section. From the bottom of the dish, the Diamond Point-pattern runs outward and upward until it meets a smooth boundary-like band before ceasing in the round rim. When the cover is placed on the box, the purposeful transitioning design becomes much more obvious in the overall appearance as it moves upward into a narrow wavy-scalloped outer band around the lower edge of the cover. Just above the wavy-scalloped outer band, the Diamond Point-pattern emerges once again flowing inward and upward before ceasing at the paneled-neck. On top of the paneled-neck, there is yet another collar-like section with a Diamond Point-pattern bulging from its center. For the finale, the exterior around the knob is made up of small grooves that run inward and upward until they join at the tip.

The front of the original box further describes this exquisite crystal-glass collectible as a "Tall" candy box and cover with "3877" in the bottom right corner.

While it is difficult to be absolutely certain, the lack of a "recycle" emblem on the bottom of the box along with the inclusion of an Indiana Glass logo above "A Lancaster Colony Company Dunkirk, Indiana 47336 U.S.A." on the lower edge of each side puts the approximate production date of this gorgeous "Tall" candy box at some point circa 1970's to early 1980's. According to references, Indiana Glass was purchased by the Lancaster Glass Corporation circa 1957. Within five to six years, the Lancaster Glass Corporation was one of five companies merged to form Lancaster Colony Company. Indiana Glass continued its glass production until 2002. The popularity of this particular Pointe de Diamant pattern experienced its zenith between the late 1970's to early 1980's.

Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual.

There are no breaks, cracks, or chips on the dish nor its cover. There are some very faint inconsistencies in the glass such as a tiny hair-like line in the floor of the bowl that is most likley due to an impurity and/or air trapped inside the glass material. While it is difficult to be absolutely certain, the lack of tiny wear marks on the bottom of the round footed base is a very good indicator that this beautiful Indiana Glass candy box and cover have almost - if not always been kept inside the original box.

The original light gray box does show signs of vintage wear and age that is almost certainly due to handling and/or storage.

The decorative possibilities for this exquisite Indiana Glass Pointe de Diamant crystal-glass "Tall" candy box are many. The china cabinet or display curio would be enhanced by the addition of this stunning crystal-glass treasure. Also, the entryway or dining room table would welcome this brilliantly designed candy box for its fascinating symmetry, multi-faceted pattern, and geometrical charm. In addition, the growing glass collection would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this exquisite Indiana Glass Pointe de Diamant "Tall" candy box and matching cover.

The collector will appreciate this gorgeous covered crystal-glass candy dish for its excellent condition, French inspired 18th Century Antoinette Poisson Pointe de Diamant style pattern, acutely pointed knob on cover, fascinating symmetry, inclusion of the original box, "Tall" size, and beautiful overall appearance.

The exquisite Indiana Glass Pointe de Diamant crystal-glass candy box weighs approximately 57 oz. including the matching cover and original box.

The beautiful clear crystal-glass Diamond Point Tall candy box measures approximately 11.75" tall to the top of the pointed knob on the lid.

The bottom dish section measures approximately 7 3/16" tall to the top of the rim x 5 7/8" wide in diameter across the rim from outside to outside x 3 7/8" wide in diameter across the round foot of the base from outside to outside.

The original light gray box measures approximately 11" tall x 6.5" wide x 6 5/8" deep.

If a shipping cost cannot be populated outside of the United States it is possible that the item is too big to be shipped or it is listed for local pickup only. ***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.

***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.

***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.

***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.

***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.

***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.

***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.

***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.

***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.

***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.

***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.

***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
