The collectible Brookins radiator filler jug is in very good condition. The elongated and arched neck along with the larger opening on the top are consistent with the radiator filler jugs once used at local filling stations through the middle to late twentieth-century. According to references, the particular logo design with the oval frame around the cursive "Brookins" appears to be consistent with items produced by Brookins during the middle of the twentieth-century. As can be seen in the photos, the gorgeously aged and distressed orange-red plastic also has another important aesthetic feature. There are areas of discoloration on the orange-red body of the jug that appear to be from handling and age. The slightly discolored areas - mainly noticeable on the neck - due to consistent handling and use were evidently never fully wiped away after their original use. Even though this collectible Brookins jug has been washed with soap and water, the discolorations remain in certain areas. Over the years the original surface discolorations due to handling and use apparently leached into and/or stained the orange-red plastic body in some areas. Hence, the primary reason this is an important feature on this already-rare and collectible jug is because it reveal's that this jug passed through several pairs of hands and was used to fill the radiators of many many vehicles down through the years. While there is no way of knowing how many filling station workers touched this jug and how many or what kind of cars and trucks this Brookins radiator filler jug was used on, there is a certain imaginative curiosity that gives this jug such a collectible appeal.
Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual.
There is a small hairline crack in the lip of the opening on the top that measures approximately 5/8" in length. Other than this, there are no breaks, cracks, holes, or repair places on this collectible Brookins radiator filler jug. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the jug - mainly in the form of distress and discoloration from use and age. As previously mentioned, the jug has been washed with soap and water. However there could still be some remnants of dust and/or water residue in a few areas - mainly inside the neck and/or handle areas.
The decorative possibilities for this collectible Brookins radiator filler jug are many. The display case or open collectibles shelf would be enhanced by the addition of this gorgeously distressed and aged orange-red filling station jug. Also, the man-cave, den, or home office would welcome this retro radiator filler jug from years gone by for its rare orange-red color and authentic looking "handled" and "aged" mid-century automobilia charm. The growing collection of automobilia and/or petroliana memorabilia will increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this incredibly interesting distressed and aged Brookins radiator filler jug.
The collector will appreciate this rare Brookins radiator filler jug for its very good condition, distressed and aged orange-red color, authentic looking "handled" and "aged" mid-century automobilia charm, and gorgeous overall appearance.
The distressed orange-red plastic Brookins radiator filling jug weighs approximately 21 oz.
The collectible Brookins filling station radiator filler jug measures approximately 17.25" tall to the top of the arched neck and 12" tall to the top of the handle x 19" in length from the tip of the spout to the back edge of the jug x 7.5" wide across the bottom from outside to outside.
The round opening at the rear of the top measures approximately 4 7/8" wide across from inside to inside - radius.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
