Vintage Jerry Can, 44 Cavalier, US Army WWII, Distressed Steel, Brown & Dark Green, Chippy Paint, Gas and Water, Home Decor, Industrial Art

$291.60 $364.50

The collectible U.S. Cavalier 44 gas and water jerry can is in good condition. While the can could be used to hold gas, it is being offered in this listing as a decorative collectible. According to references, these cans were used for either gas or water and would often be transported in a military jeep. Under the three parallel handles made into the top, there is a "U.S." with a "CAVALIER" in the center and a "44" just below. While the information under the three parallel handles has actually been stamped into the steel, there is a "C 216" spray-painted in white on the back end. Along with this, the distressed and aged brownish dark-green color has a chippy-paint appearance with slightly rustic accents where the paint has worn away. Also, it is important to point out the intact lid opening mechanism. The lid still opens and shuts with very little - if any - slack in the closed position. In addition, the large stamped X shape on each side not only adds strength to the steel, but it is also aesthetically attractive. All of these gorgeously aged and distressed features work together to give this U.S. Cavalier 44 steel gas and water jerry can a wonderful industrial-military charm.

Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual. Also, even though the can has been washed out with soap and water, it still has an odor. While there are ways the interior could be cleaned much more extensively, it is not recommended for drinking water.

There are no breaks, cracks, holes, or repair places on this collectible U.S. Army steel jerry can. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on this super cool U.S. Cavalier 44 jerry can - mainly in the form of distress, dings, and dents. Also, there are some rustic/surface rust spots on the can - mainly on the edges and/or corners. As can be seen in the photos, the light colored interior has an orangish-copper tone from fuel being transported and stored in the can. While the empty can has been cleaned both inside and out with soap and water, there is still a fuel stain on the interior. Even though the lid mechanism opens and shuts very well with little-to-no slack when closed thereby creating a good seal, it may be desirable to use a different cleaning method for the interior to remove any remaining fuel odor.

The decorative possibilities for this collectible U.S. Army WWII gas and water jerry can are many. The display case or open collectibles shelf would be enhanced by the addition of this gorgeously aged and distressed military jerry can. Also, the man-cave or den would welcome this U.S. Cavalier 44 steel gas can for its distressed chippy-paint surface and industrial-military charm. In addition, the growing collection of militaria memorabilia would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this U.S. Army Cavalier 44 WWII gas and water jerry can.

The collector will appreciate this distressed and rustic brownish dark-green Cavalier 44 WWII gas and water jerry can for tis good condition, intact lid mechanism, industrial-military charm, and aesthetically attractive appearance.

The distressed and rustic brownish dark-green U.S. ARMY WWII Cavalier 44 steel gas and water jerry can weighs approximately 167 oz.

The collectible U.S. Army Cavalier 44 WWII gas and water jerry can measures approximately 18.5" tall x 13.75" in length x 6 5/8" wide.

If you are from outside the United States and you wish to purchase this product put in your correct address and it should populate a quote. If a shipping cost cannot be populated outside of the United States it is possible that the item is too big to be shipped or it is listed for local pickup only. However, please check with me to make sure as sometimes there could be system errors. If you have further questions concerning shipping outside of the USA please contact me.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.

***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.

***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.

***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.

***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.

***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.

***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.

***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.

***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.

***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.

***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.

***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
