The twelve heavily embossed dark-red pictorial encyclopedias entitled "The Wonderland of Knowledge" are in good to very good condition. Even though volume seven and volume ten are missing from this group of pictorial encyclopedias, the incredible amount of content found within the pages of these twelve volumes is more than enough to cause the reader to fall in love with learning. The volumes are meticulously detailed and wonderfully illustrated with graphs, charts, black and white photos from that era, and maps too. These gorgeous pictorial encyclopedias were published by Publishers Productions, Incorporated of Lake Bluff, Illinois and printed in the USA. Another important note concerning the significance of these volumes revolves around the particular era during which these pictorial encyclopedias were produced. The copyright dates for these pictorial encyclopedias entitled "The Wonderland of Knowledge" range from 1937 to 1956. While looking back over the many great historical achievements that were accomplished within the time span between 1937 and 1956 - less than twenty-years - might make one desire to have lived during that time, it is important to note that so many changes were happening simultaneously in the world of that day that it would have certainly been a challenging time to experience. However, when opening up the volumes that are part of "The Wonderland of Knowledge", the subjects covered in their particular cultural and historical settings help to smooth out many of the possible challenges to understanding the world of that day by weaving a much larger picture of the knowledge that man had accumulated by that particular point in history. In addition to the wonderfully detailed and easy-to-understand content, it is important to point out the aesthetically attractive covers on these twelve volumes. The embossing is so acute that the fingers can detect virtually every detail. While the exact pattern has not been identified, the heavily embossed relief appears to be very consistent with Gothic scrollwork. As can be seen in some of the photos, the embossed scrollwork has a beautiful "antiqued" character which is evident in the slightly darker color of the shadowing within the relief of each cover.
Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual. Also, volume seven covers from "GRE to JES" and volume ten covers from "PEA to SAN".
There are no breaks, tears, or repair places on these gorgeously embossed dark-red pictorial encyclopedias. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the encyclopedias - mainly in the form of distress and age. Also, there is some discoloration on the books - mainly on the covers and page edges. While the interior pages have some areas of discoloration along with some slight sweat or water stains near the bottom of some of the pages, they are very readable and many have the appearance that they have seldom - if ever - been opened. Even though, there is some glitter on the front cover of the "GUIDE" near the top, the dark-red covers along with their black and gold accents are very nice and would possibly look even better with some lotion or conditioner to enhance their sheen. In addition, while we did not look at every single page, there is one volume that has some very slight blue-colored pen marks on some of the pages that are very similar to "doodling".
The decorative possibilities for these incredibly gorgeous heavily embossed dark-red pictorial encyclopedias entitled "The Wonderland of Knowledge" are many. The living room or den would be enhanced by the addition of these gorgeous dark-red pictorial encyclopedias. Also, the home-office or man-cave would welcome these heavily embossed dark-red encyclopedias for their meticulously detailed and wonderfully illustrated contents along with their exquisite Gothic charm. In addition, the growing collection of old books would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of these beautiful dark-red pictorial encyclopedia volumes.
The collector will appreciate these twelve pictorial encyclopedia volumes for their good to very good condition, meticulously detailed and wonderfully illustrated contents, copyright dates spanning from 1936 to 1957, heavily embossed dark-red covers, exquisite Gothic charm, and gorgeous overall appearance.
The twelve heavily embossed dark-red pictorial encyclopedias entitled "The Wonderland of Knowledge" weigh approximately 376 oz.
Each hardback book measures approximately 9 9/16" tall x 7" wide x 1 1/8" to 1.25" thick.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
