Vintage Amber Bottle, Rare Collectible, Anise Liqueur, Cazalla Seville, La Giralda Cathedral, Bell Tower, Embossed Glass, Home Decor, Spain

$546.00 $682.50

The intricately detailed amber glass Gabriel Lopez Cecero anise liqueur "Cazalla" bottle is in great to excellent condition. According to references, the gorgeously embossed design was inspired by "La Giralda" - the bell tower cathedral in Seville Spain. While it was illegal in the United States up until 2007, Anise "Pimpinella anisum" has been cultivated since the Middle Ages and is grown on a commercial scale in Spain and elsewhere in that region. Even though the bottle in this listing no longer has the label attached, references note that the bottle originally held "Cazalla" which supposedly translates to sweet liqueur. Another important feature of this bottle has to do with its unique amber color. While there are some historical references showing clear glass "Cazalla" bottles with the same design, as of the time of this listing no references have provided any that are amber in color. Even though amber colored glassware - bottles in particular - have been produced since the nineteenth-century, it is difficult to be for sure about the production date of this particular bottle since the label is no longer intact. However, there are a couple of other features that at least point toward a possible production date of sometime in the early twentieth-century. While the circular formation on the bottom of this bottle - which is sometimes referred to as an "Iron Pontil Scar" - has also been found on other types of bottles dating back to circa 1850's, the "crown cap" on the top of this bottle was not invented until circa 1900. Therefore, it is highly likely this bottle was produced sometime in the early twentieth-century.

Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual.

There are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair places on this incredibly gorgeous amber glass aniseed liqueur "Cazalla" bottle. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the bottle - mainly in the form of slight distress and rub marks on the square-shaped foot of the bottom where it has come in contact with different surfaces. Also, even though the bottle has been lightly washed with mild soap and water, there are some faint remnants on the interior - mainly in the form of small particles of dust or water-like stains near the corners in the bottom.

The decorative possibilities for this intricately detailed amber glass Gabriel Lopez Cecero aniseed liqueur "Cazalla" bottle are many. The display case or china cabinet would be enhanced by the addition of this incredibly gorgeous "La Giralda" bell tower cathedral-inspired bottle. Also, the open collectibles shelf or bookcase would welcome this stunningly detailed Cazalla bottle for its early twentieth-century European charm and deep amber color. In addition, the growing glassware and/or bottle collection would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this gorgeous amber glass aniseeed liqueur bottle.

The collector will appreciate this beautiful glass aniseed liqueur "Cazalla" bottle for its great condition, rare amber color, intricately detailed accents, stunning "La Giralda" bell tower cathedral-inspired design, early twentieth-century European charm, and gorgeous overall appearance.

The intricately detailed amber glass aniseed liqueur "Cazalla" bottle weighs approximately 31 oz.

The four-sided "La Giralda" Seville cathedral inspired anise liqueur bottle measures approximately 11.75" tall x 2 7/8" wide x 2 7/8" deep at the bottom with a rim opening of .75" from inside to inside.

The round pontil-scar on the bottom measures approximately 1 11/16" from inside to inside.

The distance from the bottom of the bottle to the top of the shoulder measures approximately 8" tall.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.

***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.

***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.

***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.

***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.

***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.

***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.

***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.

***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.

***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.

***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.

***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
