Vintage Motorcycle Gauges, Nippon Seiki Japan, Round Speedo, RPM & Fuel, Wiring Harness, Steel Bracket, Collectible Gadget, Black w Chrome

$514.00 $642.50

The collectible Nippon Seiki Japan motorcycle instrument gauge cluster is in very good condition. There is a "BREAK-IN CAUTION" sticker still intact on the RPM gauge which could be indicative of either a "barely-used" instrument cluster that remained on the bike for a very limited time or a factory-ordered replacement cluster. As of the time of this listing, there is no indication as to the exact style or year of motorcycle that would have used this particular instrument cluster. While it is possible this instrument gauge cluster could be installed on a vintage motorcycle, it is being offered in this listing as a decorative collectible. There is a round black and chrome "mph" speedometer on the left with a black plastic front "Fuel" gauge in the center followed by a round black and chrome "x1000rpm" gauge on the right. While the speedometer has "TURN" signal, "OIL", and "NEUTRAL" lights behind the glass window, the RPM gauge has "HIGH-BEAM", "HEAD-LAMP", and "TURN" signal lights. The center "FUEL" gauge has a orange needle with white accent marks against a black background. The speedometer is gorgeously decorated with white, blue, and red accent marks against a black background and an orange needle. While the white marks on the speedometer indicate "mph", the blue represents "km/h". The RPM gauge has white and red accent marks against a black background with an orange needle. While the white accent marks indicate the particular "x1000rpm" up to 11,000 rpm's, the red area between the white marks starts at 8500 rpm's.

While the front metal section of each gauge has some slight rustic patina developing on the black, the chrome back of each gauge is very clean and does not appear to have much of a weathered appearance. There is a flexible black rubbery section between the metal fronts and chrome backs. Furthermore, the metal front section has a small chrome ring that butts up against the flexible center rubber. The three gauges are brought together and held in place by the black steel mounting-bracket which two additional mounting holes - one on each side. In addition, the wiring harness of the cluster is actually comprised of three separate harnesses - one per each instrument. While the center "FUEL" gauge has a four-pin connector, the speedometer and RPM instruments each have six-pin connectors - the pins are not round but have the appearance of a small thin line - similar to an electrical plug-in accept much smaller.

Also, it is important to note that according to references, the 85 mph and 140 km/h maximums on this speedometer are in accordance with the transportation and safety guidelines circa 1979. However, it is possible that these maximums were in place prior to circa 1979 because references show similar speedometers that also had odometers as far back as the 1960's. Furthermore, while it does not necessarily indicate an "earlier than" date, the lack of an odometer on this speedometer could at least be indicative of an early 1970's production period. For example, even though it appears that the transportation and safety guidelines did not require odometers in circa 1979, they were supposedly on motorcycles produced in the 1960's. Hence, it does not appear likely that a late 1970's speedometer would be produced without an odometer.

Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting cold cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual. Also, while this instrument cluster has not been tested, the intact "BREAK-IN CAUTION" sticker is a good indicator that this particular instrument cluster was rarely - if ever - used. In addition, the family of the previous owner mentioned that they thought this cluster went to either a Kawasaki or Yamaha motorcycle that their dad had previously planned to restore.

There are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair places on this super cool collectible Nippon Seiki Japan motorcycle instrument cluster. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the cluster - mainly in the form of a rustic patina developing on the black metal sections of the round gauges. Also, there are some faint pieces of lint behind the windows of each gauge. In addition, there appears to be a very faint cloudy-like film on the backside of each window that is very hard to notice unless each instrument is inspected up close and turned in a light. While the gauges and mounting bracket appear to be very clean, there are some hard-to-reach areas that have some dust and/or debris. Also, at some point in the past, the back chrome section was waxed because there are small faint white areas in the crevices and on the flexible black rubber boots.

The decorative possibilities for this collectible Nippon Seiki Japan motorcycle instrument cluster are many. The display case or open collectibles shelf would be enhanced by the addition of this awesome vintage instrument gauge cluster. Also, the man-cave, home-office, or game-room would welcome this black and chrome Japanese-made instrument cluster for its super cool rustic-patina on the black metal along with its shiny chrome housing and bold white, blue, and red accents. In addition, the growing automobilia, transportation, and/or motorcycle memorabilia collection would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this Nippon Seiki Japan motorcycle instrument cluster.

The collector will appreciate this collectible Nippon Seiki Japan motorcycle instrument cluster for its very good condition, colorful accents, black with shiny chrome housing, motorcycle-memorabilia charm, and gorgeous overall appearance.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.

***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.

***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.

***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.

***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.

***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.

***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.

***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.

***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.

***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.

***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.

***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
