The gorgeous wheat-theme Briney pottery pitcher is in excellent condition. While the surface of the upper section, applied-handle, and interior have a smooth gray surface, the lower section has a naturally textured and more gritty surface accented with an intricately carved wheat-theme. To help bring the two colors of gray and brown together, the artisan has incorporated a hint of distressed brown around the rim, neck, and handle - mainly along its edges and bottom. The bottom of this gorgeous pottery pitcher has "BRINEY" signed in all caps. Even though there is no date or style name mentioned on the pitcher, a similar vessel with the same naturally-textured wheat-theme was found in a photograph supposedly taken in the 1980's. Along with this, the original owner noted that this pitcher was acquired many years ago in the San Diego area. According to references, Briney pottery originates from the state of Montana which is considered as one of the Great Plains states. Furthermore, the number one crop produced on the Great Plains is wheat. Hence, the wheat theme on this Briney pottery pitcher gives testimony and tribute to the importance of the wheat crop to the citizens of Montana and - by extension - the entire world. These gorgeous aesthetic features along with the geographical information give this intricately carved wheat-theme Briney pottery pitcher a warm Midwestern country charm.
Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual. Also, the Chap Stick used in the photos is not included in this listing as it was used for scale purposes only.
There are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair places on this gorgeous gray and brown Briney pottery pitcher. There are some very slight vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the pitcher - mainly in the form of slight distress on the round footed base of the bottom where it has come in contact with different surfaces. Also, there are a couple of spots on one side where the glaze did not fully cover the natural texture of the lower section. The glaze does not appear to have fallen away or come off because the surface of the blank spot is level with the surrounding glaze. In addition, while the pitcher has been lightly washed with mild soap and water, it was already very clean - even so much so that it does not appear to have ever been used.
The decorative possibilities for this incredibly gorgeous gray and brown Briney pottery pitcher are many. The display case or china cabinet would be enhanced by the addition of this wheat-theme Briney pottery pitcher. Also, the dining room or entryway would welcome this gorgeous Briney pottery pitcher for its gray and brown color, naturally textured lower section, and warm Midwestern country charm. In addition, the growing pottery collection would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this intricately detailed wheat theme Briney pottery pitcher.
The collector will appreciate this incredibly gorgeous Briney pottery pitcher for its great to excellent condition, rich gray and brown color, intricately carved wheat-theme, contrasting surface from smooth to naturally textured lower section, warm Midwestern country charm, and beautiful overall appearance.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
