The collectible Kennedy Manufacturing Company steel K-20 toolbox is in very good condition. On the underside of the lid, there is a stuck-on logo that says, "Kennedy Kits STYLE NO. K-20 KENNEDY MANUFACTURING COMPANY VAN WERT, OHIO MADE IN U.S.A.". While there are some areas of surface-rust and distress on and in this awesome tool box, it is possible that it could be refinished. However, the distressed and rustic patina give this particular Kennedy-Kits K-20 toolbox an aesthetically attractive appearance. As can be seen in the photos, the Kennedy signature is still faintly discernible near the top left edge of the lid. While the original Hammered-Brown color on this gorgeous toolbox is mostly intact on the underside of the lid, the rustic and distressed gray and brown color on the rest of the tool box are the result of cleaning and steel wool. The top of this rectangular-shaped steel box has a metal handle that is covered with a slightly distressed rubbery-plastic sleeve which enhances perfectly the distressed brownish-gray appearance. Another attractive feature worth pointing out can be seen on the rolled edges of the lid. The beautifully distressed silver (bare-steel) finish on the edges highlight the simple yet refined lines of this Kennedy toolbox. While the rolled edges are evidence of a very thoughtful design and high quality construction, it is important to note the design features of the ends. The seamless ends have smooth outer edges that actually cup over the front and back sections of the toolbox. This not only helps to add strength but it practically eliminates the possibility of snags from sharp edges while it is being carried since the edges are smooth. While this gorgeous Kennedy Kits K-20 toolbox is ready to put to work on the next job site, it is being offered in this listing for its collectible nature and gorgeous minimalist-industrial charm.
Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual. Also, there is no removable tray with this tool box. In addition, the original hammered-brown color is still pretty much intact on the underside of the lid.
There are no breaks, holes, or repair places on this gorgeous Kennedy K-20 steel tool box. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the tool box - mainly in the form of rustic patina along with a distressed gray and brown color. Also, there is a slightly distressed appearance on the brown rubbery-plastic sleeve covering the metal handle. In addition, the areas on the box that have a silver (bare steel) appearance are the result of nearly the entire box being gone over with soap and steel wool. However, there are some areas of slight surface rust on the tool box that are still noticeable - mainly on the back edge of the lid and in the inside front corners. In addition, the piano-style hinge and front closures are fully intact and in great working condition. To preserve the incredibly gorgeous rustic and distressed appearance, the box will be gone over with a light coat of WD-40 which can be removed in the future.
The decorative possibilities for this collectible Kennedy Kits K-20 steel tool box are many. The display case or open collectibles shelf would be enhanced by the addition of this rustic and distressed Kennedy tool box. Also, the man-cave or home-office would welcome this steel tool box for its collectible nature and minimalist-industrial charm. In addition, the growing collection of old tools would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this distressed and rustic gray and brown "Made in U.S.A." steel Kennedy K-20 tool box.
The collector will appreciate this Kennedy Manufacturing Company K-20 steel tool box for its very good condition, rustic patina, distressed gray and brown color, rubbery-plastic sleeve over the metal handle, high-quality construction, minimalist-industrial charm, and gorgeous overall appearance.
The collectible Kennedy Manufacturing Company K-20 toolbox weighs approximately 150 oz.
The rustic and distressed gray and brown Kennedy K-20 tool box measures 20" in length from outside to outside x 9 5/8" tall to the top of the lid x 8.5" wide from outside to outside or 9 7/16" wide including the front closure.
The brown rubbery-plastic covered metal handle stands approximately 2.25" above the top of the lid.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
