The distressed and worn Dover Stamping Company galvanized farmhouse bucket/planter is in good condition. The wear and distress on this light-gray to gray farmhouse bucket gives it a wonderful country-farmhouse charm. Also, as can be seen in the photos, a gorgeous beige-gray patina has developed on the bucket - mainly on the interior. While it is possible to use this bucket around the farm for carrying things such as vegetables, fruits, feed, eggs, etc., it is being offered in this listing as a planter/storage tub. The ribbed sides, rolled rim, and solid arch-shaped wire-style handle along with the "A" stamped into the center of the bottom are consistent with the Dover Stamping Company. According to references, the Dover Stamping Company started circa 1833 in Dover, New Hampshire. By 1869, the company was one of the leading American manufacturers of housewares and tinners' tools. While there are no discernible numbers pointing to its maximum capacity, the measurements of the bucket indicate that it should hold approximately four liquid gallons.
Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual. Also, the ChapStick is not included with this listing as it was used for scale purposes only.
As previously mentioned, there are areas of distress and wear on this gorgeous galvanized farmhouse bucket/planter. There are three narrow line-like holes in the rustic-gray bottom that are most likely due to the bucket being used. While there are some dents along with other areas of stress and wear on the bucket, it is possible that most - if not all - could be straightened back out. However, these places of wear and use give evidence of authenticity and add to the overall attractiveness of the bucket. Even more, some of the most popular information pertaining to the use of galvanized buckets in the home includes detailed directions for making them have the appearance of wear and use.
The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous Dover Stamping Company galvanized farmhouse bucket/planter are many. The entryway or living area would be enhanced by the addition of this beautifully distressed and worn galvanized steel bucket/planter filled with live or faux floral arrangements. Also, the bedroom or bath area would welcome this gorgeous gray galvanized bucket for its wonderful country-farmhouse charm. This bucket would be perfect mounted to a wall with or without a center dividing shelf. The solid arch-shaped wire-style handle would be great for holding towels, neckties, handbags, etc. In addition, legs could added to the bucket to make it a very attractive - not to mention handy - open-top icebox/cooler.
The collector will appreciate this gorgeous galvanized farmhouse bucket/planter for its good condition, beige-gray patina, wonderful country-farmhouse charm, distressed and worn character, and beautiful overall appearance.
The distressed and worn light-gray to gray Dover Stamping Company farmhouse bucket/planter weighs 38.1 oz.
The distressed and worn Dover Stamping Company galvanized farmhouse bucket/planter measures approximately 8" tall to the top of the rim or 8.75" tall to the top of the handle-mounts x 14.25" wide across from outside of handle to outside of handle x 13 7/8" wide across the rim from outside to outside x 11 3/8" wide across the bottom from outside to outside.
The circumference around the top - just below the lip of the rim measures approximately 42".

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
