The gorgeous green-over-gray mottled and distressed Brush Pottery jardiniere/planter is in great to excellent condition. While the photos show a mottled and distressed appearance with gaps in the color and glaze, it appears that this was the way this beautiful jardiniere/planter was made. While there are no discernible marks for identification on this gorgeous planter/vase, there does appear to be some very faint remnants of one inside the round foot of the base. According to references, this squatted two-handle jardiniere was produced by Brush Pottery in the 716 Fawn Green Art Vellum style. Art Vellum has the appearance of old parchment. The term Vellum comes from the French word "veau" referring to a parchment made from calf skin. Hence, the mottled spots and distressed appearance. According to references, George Brush joined J. W. McCoy Pottery Company in 1909. After purchasing J. B. Owens Pottery in 1911, the directors of the J. W. McCoy Pottery Company changed the name to Brush-McCoy Pottery. The next year they purchased molds from A. Radford Pottery in Clarksville, West Virginia. Many beautiful works were produced under Brush-McCoy Pottery until the McCoy name was dropped in 1925 - seven years after the McCoy family sold their interest in the business. The Brush Pottery Company would continue to operate until it closed in 1982. According to references, this particular style was inspired by the late Arts & Crafts movement and was produced between 1925 to 1930. While it is not an antique yet, this beautiful Brush Pottery jardiniere/planter is approaching its century-old birthday.
Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual. Also, the quart jar in the photos is not included in the listing as it was used for scale purposes only.
There are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair places on this gorgeous Brush Pottery jardiniere/planter. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on this beautiful planter - mainly in the form of rub marks on the exterior where it has come in contact with another surface. As previously mentioned, there are areas on this planter where the color and/or glaze did not cover. Along with the blank spots, there are lines, dents, and holes in the actual surface of the material which are most likely due to air being trapped during production and/or age. An example of a blank spot surface hole is located directly below one of the handles. In addition, this jardiniere/planter has been washed with mild soap and water.
The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous mottled and distressed Brush Pottery jardiniere/planter are many. The china cabinet or display curio would be enhanced by the addition of this incredibly beautiful ceramic treasure. Also, the entryway table or open collectibles shelf would welcome this stunning green-over-gray jardiniere for its Art Vellum style and Arts & Crafts era charm. In addition, the growing pottery collection would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this gorgeous jardiniere/planter.
The collector will appreciate this beautiful Brush Pottery jardiniere/planter for its great to excellent condition, mottled and distressed Art Vellum style, Arts & Crafts era charm, and gorgeous overall appearance.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
