Vintage Compote Dish, Jeanette Windsor, White Milk Glass, Pearl Hobnail, Sunken Relief, Pyramid Facets, Ring Bowl, Footed Base, Home Decor

Sorry, this item has sold.

The beautiful Jeannette white milk-glass compote dish is in great to excellent condition. The exquisite hobnail-pearl rim contrasts with the larger hobnail glass feet around the base. The area between the beautiful hobnail accents of the rim and feet is beautifully decorated with a facet-like geometric pattern that has the appearance of an inside-out pyramid in sunken-relief. While it may be hard to notice from the photos, the inside-out pyramid-shaped accents actually extend upward from the outer-edge of the round footed-base up through and to the top of the pedestal. At the top of the pedestal where it meets the bowl, there is a smoother shoulder-like area extending upward. The beautiful sunken-relief geometric pattern then continues upward from the outer-edge of the thicker shoulder until it meets the calm smooth band that encircles the hobnail-pearl rim. As if the beautiful glass dish did not already have enough eye-appeal, the contrasting geometric patterns on this beautiful milk-glass compote dish are further enhanced by the stunning opaque-white color. Hence, the incredibly detailed design along with the vibrant opaque-white color give this milk-glass compote dish an elegantly refined charm. Also, while there are no discernible identification marks on the dish, there is a number "13" near the center of the base along with what appears to be a "461" on the upper-edge of the thicker shoulder. According to references, this beautiful white milk-glass compote was produced by the Jeannette Glass Company of Jeannette, Pennsylvania. The Jeannette Glass Company referred to the sunken-relief inside-out pyramid-shape as the "Windsor" pattern.

Please note that the ChapStick in the photos is not included in the listing as it was used for scale purposes only.

At first glance, there appears to be some shallow surface chips around the outer-edge of the rim. However, the little places are actually part of the "overage" sticking out of the glass. This little glass-edge most likely occurred when the molten rim was pressed into a mold driving the extra glass outward where it eventually hardened. While it is sometimes common to find these little "overage" lines on glass in general, from our experience it is even more so to find them on milk-glass pieces. While sometimes the "overage" glass was simply ground away, other times the "overage" was simply left because it was so thin or carried with it a greater risk for damage due to its specific location on the piece. Other than this, there are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair places on this beautiful Jeannette Windsor white milk-glass compote dish. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the dish - mainly in the form of small discolorations and/or impurities in the glass. The next to last photo shows a faint brownish-tan discoloration/impurity on the interior of the bowl.

The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous Jeannette Windsor white milk-glass compote dish are many. The china cabinet or display curio would be enhanced by the addition of this gorgeous white milk-glass treasure. Also, the entryway or vanity area would welcome this beautiful Jeannette Windsor dish for its elegantly refined charm. In addition, the growing glass collection would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this stunning Jeannette Windsor compote dish.

The collector would appreciate this beautiful Jeannette Windsor white milk-glass compote dish for its great to excellent condition, contrasting geometric patterns, sunken-relief accents, hobnail-pearl rim, and gorgeous overall appearance.

The beautiful Jeannette Windsor white milk-glass compote dish weighs 21.5 oz.

The gorgeous white compote dish measures 5.5" tall to the top of the rim and approximately 5 9/16" tall to the top of the pearl-shaped hobnail accents x 6 1/8" wide across the round rim from outside to outside x 3 11/16" wide across the round footed base from outside to outside.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.

***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.

***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.

***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.

***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.

***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.

***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.

***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.

***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.

***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.

***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.

***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
