The gorgeous Western Block Company block and tackle barn pulley is in great condition. The round metal badge on the side has the shape of an anvil stamped into its center. According to references, the anvil-shaped stamp was used by the Western Block Company of Lockport, New York. The reference not only had the stamp but also had "Western Block Co. Lockport N.Y." around the outside of the anvil-shaped stamp with a "12 PAT" carved into the wood. The particular barn pulley in this listing simply has the anvil-shaped stamp with no wording and no patent information. Hence, this particular barn pulley predates September 4th, 1928 as that was the supposed date the patent was issued. Also, this particular barn pulley is incredibly well-preserved as most block and tackle barn-pulleys are covered in dust, rust, and/or worn out from doing the job they were built to accomplish. While the distressed rustic appearance of this gorgeous barn pulley gives it a gorgeous country-farm/industrial character, more importantly it gives it collectible authenticity. In comparison, while there are corners and crevices holding on to some remnants of dust and debris, this barn pulley is clean enough to use in any room of the home. Years of wear and handling on the originally stained finish have given a beautiful golden brown appearance to the oval-shaped wooden block. Even more incredible is the well-preserved black color on the metal sections. While the black color was most likely freshened up at some point, it also has a priceless aged and worn appearance resulting from decades and decades of handling and occasional wear.
Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual. Also, the ChapStick is not included with the listing as it was used for scale purposes only.
There are no breaks, deep cracks, loose sections, or repair places on this gorgeous Western Block Company barn pulley. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the barn pulley - mainly in the form of distress, wear, and age on the finish. Both pulleys along with the hook are fully intact and appear to be in great working condition. The fasteners holding the wooden block together along with the square-headed bolt and nut holding the smaller pulley are fully intact and appear to be tight. While this barn pulley has received a very light washing and wiping down, there are still some areas of light dust and/or debris in corners and crevices.
The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous metal and wood Western Block Company barn pulley are many. Whether standing alone on a surface or hanging from the ceiling, the entryway or living area would be enhanced by the addition of this beautiful barn pulley. The kitchen would welcome this incredibly well-preserved block and tackle barn pulley for its country-farm/industrial charm. The size of this gorgeous barn pulley could allow it to be used to hold a hanging pot-and-pan holder or as a mounting point from which a large industrial lighting cage could be suspended. In addition, the growing collection of old tools would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this gorgeous Western Block Company barn pulley.
The collector will appreciate this gorgeous barn pulley for its great condition, incredibly preserved details, anvil-shaped stamp, and very clean overall appearance.
The Western Block Company block and tackle barn pulley weighs 61.6 oz.
The wood and metal block and tackle barn pulley blacksmith tool measures approximately 13" in total length.
The distance between the center of the larger pulley to the center of the smaller pulley measures approximately 4" - measuring eye to eye.
The oval wooden block section measures 4.25" tall x 6 1/8" in length x 2 13/16" deep.
The inner opening of the block measures 1 3/16" across from inside to inside.
The larger pulley measures approximately 1" wide while the smaller pulley measures .75" wide.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
