The beautiful quart-size light teal-blue beehive-shape Ball Mason glass fruit jar is in very good to great condition. The embossed letters on the front spell out, "Ball MASON". The particular style of the embossed " Ball" on this jar is sometimes referred to as a dropped "a" with underline script. The jar has two seams - one on each side - with a smooth lip at the top which indicates that this jar was machine made. According to references, the production of machine-made Mason jars began circa 1909. Even more, the small script "a" has as ascender on the front (as if it were attempting to connect with the "B" in Ball) which reveals that this particular "Ball" style was produced sometime between 1910 to 1923. Hence, Ball Mason jars with this "Ball" design are commonly referred to as "2L" jars. Also, the distressed rustic-gray zinc metal lid has "Genuine Boyd Cap for Mason Jars" around the white ceiling of the screw-on cap. The underside of this gorgeous light teal-blue Ball Mason jar has a number 4 and a large "L" which might also be described as a reverse "J". While the number "4" most likely refers to a particular mold mark, as of the time of this listing a reference for the purpose and/or reason behind the large "L" has not been found.
While narrowing down information surrounding the production of old glass jars can be incredibly interesting and super-fun, one of the most important reasons for the appreciation of old jars is also the simplest one - many old glass jars have a timeless beauty that captivates the attention. This particular light teal-blue Ball Mason jar has such timeless beauty. The incredibly gorgeous light teal-blue glass has very attractive and seemingly rare imperfections. The small to medium bubbles are enhanced with the wavy distortion of the glass. Also, the heel of this particular Ball Mason jar is slightly offset. The seam that runs around the base of the jar connects the sides to the bottom. While it may not be as noticeable in the photos, there is a tad-bit more overhang on the back as opposed to the area under "MASON". When considering all of the stunning visual features that make up this light teal-blue glass jar, it is also important to remember that the particular design was limited to only a 13-year period. Hence, this is a very unique and special Ball Mason jar that is sure to capture and keep the attention with its intense beauty and rare presence.
Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual. Also, the rubber gasket is not included with the jar. In addition, the particular color could be described as teal-blue or light teal blue. Hence, the terms may be used synonymously in this listing.
There are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair marks on this gorgeous light teal-blue beehive-shape Ball Mason glass fruit jar. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the jar - mainly in the form of rub marks on the sides and base where it has come in contact with other surfaces. While both the inside and outside of the jar have been cleaned, there could still be some small faint cloudy spots that were overlooked - mainly around the inside of the heel area where the sides meet the floor of the jar. Also, the zinc Boyd cap/screw-on lid has a developing rustic-gray patina on its surface. The distressed rustic-gray zinc metal lid has noticeable age and wear - mainly in the form of a tear on its outer edge. The white interior of the cap is still intact.
The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous light teal-blue Ball Mason glass fruit jar are many. The china cabinet or display curio would be enhanced by the addition of this gorgeous Ball Mason glass treasure. Also, the open collectibles shelf would welcome this beautiful light teal-blue Ball Mason jar for its gorgeous imperfections and beehive-shape. In addition, the growing jar collection would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this stunning Ball Mason glass fruit jar.
The collector will appreciate this beautiful Ball Mason glass fruit jar for its very good to great condition, limited production time, light teal-blue color, distorted wavy glass, medium to large bubbles, unique "Ball" design, and beautiful overall appearance.
The beautiful light teal-blue Ball Mason quart-size glass fruit jar weighs 16.8 oz.
The quart-size light teal-blue beehive-shape Ball Mason fruit jar measures approximately 7" tall to the top of the Boyd cap/screw-on lid x 2 5/8" wide across the rim from outside to outside x 3 13/16" wide across the round base.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
