The collectible hardback gothic fiction book by Victor Hugo entitled "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is in very good condition. The rich burgundy-red front cover and spine are accented with a gorgeous gold colored trim. The cover material appears to be a pebble patterned leather. While the covers have some distress and age mainly in the joint where the front and back covers meet the edge of the spine, the covers in general and the front cover especially have an exquisitely French charm. According to references, this gothic fiction novel is Victor Hugo's "grand medieval melodrama" that tells the story of a beautiful gypsy girl named Esmeralda who was loved by three men. Also, the front pages show this particular book to be from the International Collector's Library American Headquarters of Garden City, New York. The page opposite the table of contents shows this book as "Printed in the United States of America". The table of contents shows the whole of this Victor Hugo novel to be broken down into ten different books.
Please note that there are no dates inside this book. However, from our experience with other well-known literary treasures that have similar bindings and accents, this particular Victor Hugo book was most likely produced in the 1970's.
Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual.
As previously noted, there is some distress and wear in the joint where the front and back covers meet the spine. While it is more slight on the back cover, the front cover is cracked in the joint. The place most likely is the result of the material drying out and/or the book being opened in a dryer climate. While there is a little crack, the spine is still intact. Other than this, there are no tears, rips, or repair places on this gorgeous hardback Victor Hugo book. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the book - mainly in the form of wear around the edges. Also, there is some discoloration happening with the pages - mainly on the outer edges. In addition, there is a signature (Mary A. Rea) in blue ink located in the top left of the inside front page. There are some orange marks on the bottom outer-edge of the pages - noticeable when the book is closed. While the pages are very readable, this is not a book that should be spread completely open as is often the case for comfortable reading. When opening the book, the tightness of the binding and spine feel very similar to a newer book that has hardly or never been opened. However, the difference with this book is its age.
The decorative possibilities for this collectible hardback gothic fiction book by Victor Hugo entitled "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" are many. The display case or open collectibles shelf would be enhanced by the addition of this Victor Hugo novel. Also, the study or entryway table would welcome this rich burgundy-red and gold colored book for its exquisitely French charm. In addition, the growing book collection would increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this timeless literary treasure.
The collector will appreciate this hardback gothic fiction Victor Hugo book for its very good condition, gothic fiction genre, rich burgundy-red and gold appearance, and incredible literary significance.
The collectible hardback gothic fiction book by Victor Hugo entitled "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" weighs 17.8 oz.
The gorgeous burgundy-red and gold hardback Victor Hugo book measures 8.5" tall x 5.75" wide x 1.25" thick.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
