The aged antique cedar interior door is in very good condition. This is a wonderful architectural salvage find as it is becoming harder to locate interior doors of this size mainly due to their constant use and lighter weight. The gorgeous panels on this door give it a very charming appearance while making it much easier to incorporate into repurpose-projects. Also, this particular door came out of a 119 year old home. While it is hard to say for sure if the hardware is that old, the overall distressed appearance of the aged and worn finish on the hardware is consistent with a longer time frame. Hence, this door would make a great restoration piece for homes located in historical districts and/or period appropriate remodels. In addition, the rich brown coppery-gold cedar tone on this particular door gives it a warm and welcoming rustic cabin appearance.
The door is solid wood. The wood appears to be cedar which was not only common in years past but is still sought after today.
The pictures show what appears to be a crack or break at the top right on one side of the door. However, up close the bottom of the crack is actually the shallow beginning of a scar in the wood. The scar does not go into the other side of the wood. The section is not loose and does not feel broken. The mystery is what caused it. Since it is shallow at the bottom of the scar, it could have happened by closing the door while something was still sticking down out of the closet or it could have taken place after the door was removed from its hinges. Other than this, there are no breaks, cracks, rotten places, or repair marks on this gorgeous antique cedar interior door. There are antique wear, age, and rub places on the door - mainly in the form of distress and wear along with aging of the shellac or stain. There are some spots of discoloration on the door. The door had two hinges from which it was hung. The hinges are still intact on the door. Also, the hardware has a rustic distressed brass appearance and may need a little oiling to simply make it easier to open and close.
The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous antique cedar interior door are many. As previously noted, the condition and design of this beautiful antique door allows it to be used as a replacement for homes in an historical district. While this beautiful old door is certainly ready to be installed and used as an actual "door", it could also be repurposed for other projects such as a header for a hall-tree or as an angled base from which planters could be mounted. The entryway would be enhanced by the addition of this gorgeous antique interior door by hanging it on a wall and adding photos or simply as a rich cedar centerpiece. Also, shelves and/or hooks could be added to make a stunning coat or scarf rack. In addition, the door could be mounted on a ceiling as a backdrop from which pendant lights or a chandelier could be mounted.
The collector will appreciate this beautiful architectural salvage antique cedar interior door for its very good condition, rich cedar tone, and beautifully aged appearance.
The antique cedar interior closet door weighs approximately 15 pounds.
The solid wood architectural salvage door measures approximately 70 1/8" tall x 23 9/16" wide x .75" thick.
The distance on the edge of the door from the bottom of the bottom hinge to the top of the top hinge measures approximately 56".
Please note that some customization may be needed to make sure the door fits correctly.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
