The distressed American gray and brown wooden level with aluminum top and bottom rails is in very good condition. There are three windows with two bubbles per window. All six bubbles are intact. The black plastic ends of this gorgeous decorative industrial collectible are still intact. While all of the bubbles are intact and this level appears to still be in great working condition, it is being offered in this listing as a decorative collectible.
According to references, American levels are becoming increasingly rare and desirable. In addition, the numbers and particular "American" logo appear to be older than the versions with stickers for identification. Also, the numbers below the logo appear to be 060930 48. However, the 9 is hardly legible. Since the level does not have a date stamp, it is simply described as vintage. However, references with the same "burned-in" or "heat-stamped" style logo are described as antique. Antique must be 100 years old or older. The aluminum rails and black plastic ends may or may not have been in use over 100 years ago.
There is a little surface crack on the edge of the hole close to the end. The crack is approximately 1/8" deep. Hence, it does not run through the center of the wood. The black plastic ends have a distressed and worn appearance. Also, there appears to be some left-over material in the little dipped-in holes on the ends. While the level was wiped down with a damp cloth, there are some places where residual debris is still intact.
There are obvious signs of wear and distress on this gorgeous decorative industrial collectible. However, other than the surface crack just mentioned, there are no breaks, cracks, deep chips, or repair marks on this gorgeous 48" American level. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks that are consistent with the purpose for which this old level was designed - to check level and plumb.
The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous American level are many. The entryway or living area wall would be enhanced by the addition of this gorgeous gray and brown Carpenter's tool. Also, the man-cave or office would welcome this worn and distressed collectible industrial tool as a reminder that even though time and work can add a lot of wear, we are still useful and important. In addition, the mantle or open collectibles shelf would grow in interest and become an instant conversation piece upon the arrival of this gorgeous industrial decoration.
The collector will appreciate this gorgeous gray and brown distressed American level for its very good condition and overall worn appearance.
The distressed 48" wood and aluminum American level weighs approximately 68 oz.
The gorgeous gray and brown wooden level with aluminum top and bottom rails measures 48" in length x 2.25" tall x 1 1/8" deep.

If you are from outside the United States and you wish to purchase this product put in your correct address and it should populate a quote. If a shipping cost cannot be populated outside of the United States it is possible that the item is too big to be shipped or it is listed for local pickup only. However, please check with me to make sure as sometimes there could be system errors. If you have further questions concerning shipping outside of the USA please contact me.
***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of manufacturing or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
