Vintage Pinking Shears, J Wiss & Sons Co, 1950s Model A, Black Enamel Handles, Carbon Steel Blades, Aluminum Frame, Large Pink, Craft Tool

$140.00 $175.00

The 1950's pinking shears from J. Wiss & Sons, Co. are in excellent working condition. These are advertised in their 1950 catalog on page 11 as having a "New Style" aluminum body with black enamel handles. According to the catalog reference, these are Model A Professional shears designed for use on heavier materials, airplane cloth, and tailor samples. Each carbon steel blade is held on by three screws. The measurements of this particular set of pinking shears are a tad bit shorter than those in the 1941 catalog.

Please note that we have not tested the blades to make sure they are sharp. However, they feel very sharp.

The original box is included. The box is in good condition.

There are no breaks, bends, loose or missing pieces, or repair places on these mid-century 1950's pinking shears. The black enamel handles do show some signs of wear as the enamel has come off in certain spots. Also, there are some vintage wear, age, and rub places on the pinking shears - mainly showing as a developing patina on the aluminum body.

The box has noticeable wear and age. One of the corners has broken loose and there are scribble marks in the bottom of the box. Also, the exterior of the box has what appears to be sweat stains. However, the box is not soft in those areas and there is no mold or mildew on or in the box.

The decorative possibilities for these beautiful pinking shears are many. While they appear to be in excellent working condition, it may be desirable to simply display these gorgeous J. Wiss & Sons, Co. pinking shears. The display case or open collectibles shelf would be enhanced by the addition of this gorgeous mid-century tool. In addition, the craft room or man cave would welcome these beautiful shears on either a table or displayed in a glass wall-hanging box.

The collector will appreciate these gorgeous pinking shears for their excellent condition and original box.

The gorgeous mid-century 1950's pinking shears weigh 10.1 oz. including the box and 7.4 oz. without the box.

The black enamel handles with "New Style" aluminum body measures 10.5" in length from tip to tip with a blade length of approximately 3 15/16".

***Shipping for Everywhere Else on the planet:

If you are from outside the United States and you wish to purchase this product put in your correct address and it should populate a quote. If a shipping cost cannot be populated outside of the United States it is possible that the item is too big to be shipped or it is listed for local pickup only. However, please check with me to make sure as sometimes there could be system errors. If you have further questions concerning shipping outside of the USA please contact me.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.

***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.

***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.

***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. However please note that after shipping we recommend all items be cleaned thoroughly before use. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.

***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.

***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.

***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.

***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.

***The year of manufacturing or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.

***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.

***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.

***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
