Vintage Vlchek Hammer, HL20 Masonry Tool, Blue Steel Head, Hardwood Handle, Wooden Metal Art, Collectible Old, Industrial Decoration

$228.60 $285.75

The stunning Vlchek HL20 masonry hammer is in great. The side of the head shows the identity of this gorgeous masonry tool. While it appears that this gorgeous hammer is still in great working condition, it is being offered here as a rare collectible masonry tool.

This old masonry hammer was made by a company that was started by a blacksmith named Frank J, Vlchek in Cleveland Ohio. Beginning in 1895, he began making his quality tools. By 1909, his company was shipping these high-quality pieces all over the country. According to references, Vlchek tools were made of such high-quality that Sears Craftsman, automakers, and other large companies began using their tools. In 1958-59 they were bought out by Pendleton Tool Industries who would later merge with Ingersoll-Rand in 1964. The Vlchek plant in Cleveland Ohio was closed by Ingersoll in 1969.

From the appearance of the wedges, the original hardwood handle appears to be intact. The hole near the butt of the handle is a place for a leather wrist strap to be added.

While the hammer has certainly been used, it does not appear to have been used a lot. The design of the hammer is consistent with a 7" original length. Hence, the spade end of the hammer - at the least - was rarely used. The square-shaped front head has a couple nicks or notches and may have been used more for simple blows than chipping away dry mortar or breaking block.

The end of the butt has some wear and chips in the wood one of which runs down to the little hole - see pictures.

Other than the places mentioned, there are no breaks, cracks, loose parts, or repair places on this gorgeous vintage Vlchek HL20 masonry hammer. There are some vintage wear and rub places on the hammers' head and handle.

The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous hammer are many. The collectibles shelf or display cabinet would be enhanced by the addition of this beautiful Vlchek treasure. Also, this hammer could be displayed on a wall as a gorgeous piece of industrial history. In addition, the growing vintage and older hammer collection would grow in interest and value upon the arrival of this gorgeous masonry hammer.

The collector will appreciate this gorgeous vintage Vlchek masonry hammer for its great working condition and stunning overall appearance.

The butt of the hammer appears to have "SP" with "Made in USA" below it.

The gorgeous old Vlcheck HL20 roofing hammer weighs 19.3 oz.

The steel headed and hardwood handle collectible masonry hammer measures approximately 11 1/8" in length.

The blue colored steel head of the hammer measures approximately 7" in length x 15/16" wide.

The front square hammering end of the hammer measures approximately 7/8" tall x 15/16" wide.

If you are from outside the United States and you wish to purchase this product put in your correct address and it should populate a quote. If a shipping cost cannot be populated outside of the United States it is possible that the item is too big to be shipped or it is listed for local pickup only. However, please check with me to make sure as sometimes there could be system errors. If you have further questions concerning shipping outside of the USA please contact me.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.

***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.

***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.

***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. However please note that after shipping we recommend all items be cleaned thoroughly before use. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.

***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.

***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.

***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.

***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.

***The year of manufacturing or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.

***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.

***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.

***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
