The beautiful opalescent satin glass crystal chalice vase is in excellent condition. The upper section of this beautiful glass collectible has a softer translucent blue color; whereas, the stem and foot have a translucent clear appearance. The blue color of the second picture is extremely close to the actual color. We make this note because lighting (or its absence) can sometimes make colors appear darker. Also, in this description, we are using the terms chalice/vase/goblet interchangeably. According to our extensive research, this is more of a chalice in form since it has a more narrow mouth. However, the larger size makes it closer to a vase. Of course, the overall shape of this beautiful glass collectible is similar to a goblet. Also, the reason we use the term crystal in this description is based on our findings that the blue section of this beautiful satin glass collectible has the peculiar sound and echo of crystal.
The laborious and tedious work put into making this gorgeous opalescent glass treasure is truly amazing and was obviously accomplished by a very skilled artisan (s) of glass and metal.
Please note that the mug used in the picture was for scale purposes only and is not included in this listing.
There appears to be a very slight mark on the bottom toward the center that looks very similar to a "7" with two wavy lines just below and a slightly longer tail trailing off into the glass. Also, there is a very unique wave inside the glass foot that actually has a rainbow appearance when using a lighted jeweler's loupe.
While the shape of the base is round, it is a little out of round. The stem has been turned as it has the very noticeable twist only in the bulbous area of the stem.
According to the only other comparable piece that we could find, the gold is actually 24 kt. While we have not verified this conclusion with a chemical test, it is highly likely this is actual gold gilt trim - simply based on experience with other gold gilt pieces. In addition, the cameo appears to be in gold covered with glass. A light shining from the backside of the cameo reveals that the black section around the cameo relief was painted and then the entire cameo covered in glass.
The gorgeous cameo appears to be that of a French emperor - possibly Louis XIV or XV. The French designation fits with the only other piece we could find for reference. The gold gilt trim also has a blue glass bead/stone on the back of this beautiful chalice/vase. While at first, this appears to be something similar to a coronation chalice, the cameo figure is not wearing a headdress of royalty but a helmet style head covering similar to those used when the king headed off to battle. Hence, a possible theme or occasion for this beautiful satin glass crystal chalice would be that of victory.
There are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair places on this gorgeous opalescent chalice/vase. There are some very slight rub marks on this gorgeous glass collectible - mainly on the footed base. There is also a small black line on the bottom of the base that appears to be from the making of the glass as it is smooth with the surface and appears to be just under the surface of the glass.
The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous opalescent satin glass crystal chalice are many. The display case or china cabinet would be enhanced by the addition of this beautiful glass collectible. While we do not recommend openly displaying this gorgeous glass chalice/vase on a shelf or table, it would look stunning in a larger bookcase or collectibles shelf. The growing art glass collection would grow in value and interest upon the arrival of this beautiful glass treasure.
The collector will appreciate this rare glass collectible for its excellent condition and beautiful gold gilt trim.

The beautiful opalescent blue satin glass crystal chalice/vase weighs 24.1 oz.
The gorgeous satin glass celebration vase measures 11 5/8" tall.
The upper blue section of this beautiful opalescent glass collectible measures approximately 7.5" above the stem.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
