The gorgeous antique fainting couch with the carved musical note and Angel's trumpet floral accents is in great condition. This beautiful antique treasure is very consistent with other pieces from the Eastlake Furniture Company.

Please note that the pictures have been enhanced for clarity and sharpness.

While this description cannot go into all of the histories concerning different furniture eras along with the companies during those particular times, it is important to note that Eastlake desired to build high-quality furniture with simple yet detailed accents. According to sources, just before the arrival of Eastlake, many furniture pieces were being made with very deep scrollwork, elaborate and time eating design elements, and a Rococo style where appearance seemed to be just as important as reliability. Even though Eastlake furniture pieces were being made during the end of the Victorian era, some note that Eastlake furniture showed signs of Modernism.

The light and shallow scrollwork on this particular antique fainting couch depict a flower commonly referred to as Angel's Trumpet with the wide bells - very similar to a type of Lily. In addition, the carved back flowing from right to left begins and ends with what appear to be musical notes. Another Eastlake feature can be found in the straight lines along the front edge of the couch. The reason we mention "Eastlake style" or "consistent with Eastlake" is because the antique fainting couch does not explicitly say "Eastlake Furniture Company". While the inner frame might have the Eastlake identification stamp, there does not appear to be a way to see it without altering the coverings.

The wood appears to be very solid and very old. The wood appears to be oak - which Eastlake did use in the production of furniture. The stain has a light to lighter medium appearance.

The frame, back, and legs of this beautiful fainting couch chaise lounge appear to be in great condition. Apart from the aged appearance of this gorgeous antique chaise lounge, there are no breaks, rotten places, or deep cracks affecting the use and display of this beautiful fainting couch. There are some vintage wear and rub marks on this beautiful piece.

The cover has been changed and updated by the previous owners. While the current cover is older, it is still in very good to great condition. The bottom of the fainting couch also has an updated cover in plain white. There are a few very light water stain lines on the white bottom cover. They were not there before we got the couch. They appeared as we wiped down the cover and sides. Also, in the pictures, the white material trim piece has a loose end toward the front of the raised section. It appears that is was either left a little longer or it was not tacked down.

The backside of the raised backrest has some silver colored screw heads showing which were apparently added to help make the aging backrest more secure in case the chaise lounge was to be moved or used very often.

The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous antique fainting couch are many. The living room or bedroom would be enhanced by the addition of this gorgeous antique treasure. Also, the hallway or landing area might be a great location to show off this beautiful piece. In addition, fainting couches make great entryway furniture. By and large and depending upon the piece, antique furniture has less bulk than present-day offerings.

The collector will appreciate this beautiful chaise lounge for its gorgeous attention to detail and great overall condition.

The gorgeous antique fainting couch with the carved musical note and Angel's trumpet floral accents weighs approximately 60 pounds.

The carved oak recamier or chaise lounge measures approximately 22.25" deep x 65.25" in length x 31.25" tall.

The length from the outside of one leg to the outside of the other leg is approximately 56.25".

The length of the rectangular frame section not including the raised headrest is approximately 57.25".

The width of the raised armrest/headrest is 22.5”.

The depth of the chaise lounge from the front side of the front foot to the back side of the back foot is approximately 20.25”.

The actual wood on the backrest is approximately .75” thick.

The wood corners of the backrest are approximately 7/8” thick.

The depth measurement noted above includes the total depth from the back of the wooden back rest to the front edge of the seat.

The height measurement noted above is of the highest point at the back.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.

***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.

***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.

***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. However please note that after shipping we recommend all items be cleaned thoroughly before use. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.

***We do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished look.

***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.

***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity.

***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.

***The year of manufacturing or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.

***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.

***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with a regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.

***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
