The gorgeous brass and metal dual arm accent lamp with quilted amber hobnail shades is in great to excellent working condition. This beautiful lamp does work. The beautiful amber shades and clear glass chimneys are included with the lamp. The shades are not the originals. The round switch in the front of the lamp powers on the lamps. Both lamps burn at the same time.
There are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair places on this lamp. The lamp does have some vintage wear and rub marks. For example, there is patina or discoloration developing in different places on the lamp. Also, there is a very shallow ding or indention on the backside very close to where the arm meets the left light. Since it is in a tight space and there are no surrounding concerns, it is probably safe to say it was from the manufacturer holding the arm in place while attaching the end cup.
The lamp is brass and metal. The reason we say this is that the base is more hollow as the middle post pieces appear to be solid. The lamp is certainly heavy and well made. The bottom of the lamp has three wide pads to keep the lamp from scratching surfaces.
The cord is in great working condition. The cord and plug end have some very tiny dots of white overspray. It is very hard to notice on the cord but can be seen on the plug end.
Interestingly, the plug end actually has a cover that will slide back to view the metal prongs. There are no raw wires when it is slid back. On the outside of each metal prong it says "ACADEMY" and on the inside of each prong it says, "Made in USA Pat Pend". The UL mark for Underwriters Laboratories is also on the inside of the prongs.
The dual arm brass and glass accent lamp appears to be an older to early mid-century lamp according to the cord, patina, design, quality. While we are aware that there are lamps similar to this one described as "Antiques", we are strict to make sure we do not use the antique label unless we are very certain the item is over 100 years old.
The decorative possibilities for this dual arm brass accent lamp are many. This appears to be a larger version of the dual arm student lamp. Hence, while this lamp would look glorious in a study or office setting, it could also be used as an awesome table lamp. The den or living room would be enhanced with the addition of this beautiful lamp. Virtually every decorative theme would work with this beautiful lamp - simply because of its rarity and beautiful design. The entryway might be the perfect spot for to display this lighted treasure. Also note that since the amber glass hobnail shades are removable, other colors of shades could be added for different seasons or occasions.
The collector will appreciate this beautiful accent lamp for its great condition and gorgeous brass and glass craftsmanship.

***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. However please note that after shipping we recommend all items be cleaned thoroughly before use. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***We do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished look.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that we do not enhance all of our pictures. Sometimes the first picture is enhanced for lighting purposes, etc. Therefore, the other pictures should be in very close agreement with the color.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of manufacturing or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable - we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with a regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront.
***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled - they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
